The Transformation of Cooper Lake Dam

The transformation of Cooper Lake Dam—Kingston, New York’s primary water supply source. This time-lapse illustrates the site conditions as Schnabel and our partners completed the comprehensive dam rehabilitation project!

Improvements included a new water supply intake tower, outlet works, metering chamber and controls, a spillway and energy dissipation structure, the raising and flattening of the slope of the main dam including new chimney and blanket drains and leveling the 1,500-foot west dike.

Thank you to our client and partners, who made this transformation possible, including the City of Kingston, NY (Kingston Board of Water Commissioners), CDM Smith, and Thalle Construction.
