Schnabel Engineering Scholarship
The Schnabel Engineering Scholarship was established in 2017 to honor the career of Dave Campbell, PE, D. WRE, founder of the company’s dam engineering practice. This annual scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Villanova undergraduate or graduate student in civil engineering whose character and strong academic and/or research interest best embody Dave’s contributions to the dam engineering community.
At the time of application, the individual must be enrolled in the Villanova University College of Engineering as an undergraduate or graduate student. Applicants must be an active member of either ASCE, ASDSO, or USSD at the time of application and award.
Previous recipients of these scholarships are eligible to apply in any succeeding competition for this award, provided the other requirements of eligibility are satisfied.
To apply for the scholarship, interested candidates may complete the online application using the form below. Supporting documents include:
- One (1) personal essay which shall be no more than 1,000 words and shall highlight why the applicant wishes to become a civil engineer, specific ASCE, ASDSO, or USSD involvement, and long term goals and plans;
- Upload a resume (length not to exceed 2 pages)
- One reference letter from a professor in your current program. Provide your professor’s contact information and the request for reference will be sent directly to your professor. We will notify you once the letter is received and your application is complete.
Applications will be accepted March 15 through May 1 of each year. Selected candidate will be notified by June 1.
All applications will be reviewed by the Schnabel Engineering Scholarship Committee or its designee for recommendation to Schnabel Engineering’s Operations Team for final approval.
The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to recommend that no award be made in a particular year if no meritorious applications are received. In this circumstance, either two $1,000 awards or a $2,000 award would be considered for a future year.
Selection is based on appraisal of applicant’s essay, justification to receive the award, education plans, academic performance, potential for development, and demonstrated leadership qualities.
The amount of the scholarship will be $1,000 annually.
