Schnabel Team Wins Best Major Project from VLWA Dam Safety Committee!

Schnabel was proud to accept the award for Best Major Construction or Rehabilitation Project from the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association 2022 Dam Safety Committee!

Schnabel’s efforts and rehabilitation design for the Hearthstone Dam resulted in over $2 million of savings to the NRCS and Augusta County, Virginia while also reducing flood risk to for almost 300 homes and businesses downstream. Schnabel performed an extensive subsurface investigation, which included field gradation testing of 2,000-lb bulk samples and demonstrated that the existing embankment zones met NRCS filter compatibility criteria.
