Schnabel Supports the Girls Inc. Program
Rae is a rising high school junior, interning with Schnabel’s Denver office this summer as part of a special Girls Inc. externship program. Girls Inc. of Metro Denver seeks to expose girls & nonbinary youth to knowledge, experiences, careers, and mentors in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Rae has been in the Girls Inc. program for years and is thinking about a career in forensic anthropology—but we’re hoping to convince her to become a Schnabel engineer or geologist!
Rae helps with updating project records and Emergency Action Plan and accompanies engineers to visit sites, allowing her to learn about the broad range of civil engineering work Schnabel does from tunneling and water rights.
Here’s what Rae has to say:
“My internship has been a lot of fun so far! I have been out in the field and have been able to see a lot of different things. I have always enjoyed STEM and I have been interested in the STEM field since kindergarten. I have learned a lot so far and I could maybe see myself doing something like this in the future.”
