Schnabel Spotlight: Tivoli Lake Preserve

We’re proud to have contributed to the transformation of Tivoli Park Preserve—New York’s second-largest urban nature preserve—by daylighting over one-third of a mile of Patroon Creek.

Now fully vegetated, this award-winning project reconnected the creek to its natural environment, enhanced upstream flood resilience, restored vital habitats, and created inclusive access points for the surrounding community. Today, more than 7,000 native plants line the stream, supporting pollinators and local wildlife.

Schnabel served as a subconsultant for the stream daylighting and as the prime consultant for the related Tivoli Lake Dam repair. Congratulations to our partners at the Albany Water Board, Albany Water Department, CHA Consulting, Inc., and Keller Construction on this remarkable achievement!
