Schnabel Performs Design for I-95 Repair
We are proud to have supported Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Buckley & Company, Inc., and Aero Aggregates of North America on the successful (and speedy) emergency repair of six lanes of I-95 just north of Philadelphia after the tragic bridge collapse on June 11. Schnabel’s geostructural group performed the design of the temporary, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall utilizing wire baskets and geogrid backfilled with foam glass aggregate made from recycled glass by Aero Aggregates.
We worked around the clock to deliver complete design drawings in one business day, allowing construction to begin immediately after bridge demolition and removal. The video below captures the six lanes reopening, after much anticipation, on June 23!
