Rick Smith Joins Tunnels and Underground Team
Schnabel is thrilled to have Rick Smith join our Tunnels and Underground team!
With 37 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, Rick Smith has led numerous high-profile tunnels and underground structures throughout North America. His extensive expertise encompasses geotechnical engineering for underground structures, support of excavation, deep foundations, embankments on soft ground, retaining structures, and subsurface characterization.
Rick has demonstrated exceptional leadership in several of Seattle’s largest tunnel projects, including the Brightwater Conveyance System for King County, the University Link and Northgate Link Extensions for Sound Transit, and the Ship Canal Water Quality Project for the city of Seattle. He has been instrumental in guiding multidisciplinary teams to successful project completion, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Rick will be supporting tunnel projects nationwide utilizing his extensive expertise in geotechnical engineering. He will also be leading pursuits and growing Schnabel’s tunneling practice on the West Coast.
