Robert Cannon serves as a Senior Consultant in Schnabel’s Dam Engineering Business Unit, where he provides strategic direction for the firm’s growth on the West Coast and in Alaska. His passion and efforts focus on keeping the nation’s dams safe and supporting existing and new hydro pumped storage projects. His recent completion of two 3-year terms on the U.S. Society on Dams Board of Directors and Dam Safety Committee exemplifies his leadership skills. His primary technical role is to provide consulting for high-profile dam projects as a member of Board of Consultants and Independent External Peer Review (IEPR) panels.

Robert has extensive experience in program and project management for large dam and pumped storage projects. He provides geotechnical support of site characterization, remedial investigation, feasibility study, design, remedial design, and construction oversight projects for dams. He has managed multidisciplinary site evaluation programs, developed site-specific field investigation plans, and managed their implementation at numerous sites.

Robert’s hydroelectric and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-related project experience includes technical support and management of feasibility study, siting, licensing, design, construction, and remediation tasks. His project responsibilities have also included support in public hearings, expert testimony, site construction supervision, seismology and reservoir-induced seismicity assessments, technical review, and project management.
