Michael Canino is an Executive Vice President at Schnabel where he is responsible for the growth and strategic direction of the Dam and Levee Engineering business as well as the overall management of its daily activities. He has served on the Board of Directors for a decade and became Chairman in 2019.
Michael manages project staffing, subcontractor procurement and negotiations, development and negotiation of cost proposals, and technical management and quality assurance for large complex projects through a staff of more than 150 engineers, scientists, and other specialists in 10 offices. His experience includes managing and working on multiple U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on-call type contracts for different districts around the country, as well as managing contracts for federal and non-federal clients throughout the U.S.
Prior to joining Schnabel in 2007, Michael worked for several consultants in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast where his responsibilities included technical assignments, the development of business plans, maintaining client relationships, and developing technical resources for geotechnical and dam engineering services.
For more than 30 years, Michael’s technical experience focused on geotechnical, geo-environmental, and dam engineering projects. He has served as the project manager, task leader, or senior reviewer on over 200 projects, including civil works projects, embankment and concrete dams, levees, waterfront structures, foundations, retaining walls, and ground improvement projects. Michael is an active member of ASCE, ASDSO, and USSD where he actively serves on the Embankment Dams Committee.
