
Michael C. Canino, PE
Michael Canino is an Executive Vice President at Schnabel where he is responsible for the growth and strategic direction of the Dam and Levee Engineering Business Unit.
In his role, Michael leads over 190 engineers, scientists, and other specialists located in 12 offices. His 30+ years of technical experience has focused on geotechnical, geo-environmental, and dam engineering projects. He has served as the Project Manager, Task Leader, or Senior Reviewer on more than 200 projects, including civil works projects, embankment and concrete dams, levees, waterfront structures, foundations, retaining walls, and ground improvement projects. His experience includes managing and working on multiple U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on-call type contracts for different districts around the country, as well as managing contracts for federal and non-federal clients throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Schnabel, Michael worked for several consultants in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast where his responsibilities included technical assignments, the development of business plans, maintaining client relationships, and developing technical resources for geotechnical and dam engineering services.
Michael is an active member of ASCE, ASDSO, and USSD where he actively serves on the Embankment Dams Committee. Michael is a certified Aresty Scholar (with a focus on Strategy and Innovation), a designation given by The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Aresty Institute of Executive Education. He served on Schnabel’s Board of Directors for 12 years and was the Chairman from 2019 to 2022.
