As National Practice Leader for Dams, Greg Paxson is responsible for the technical direction of Schnabel’s dam engineering practice. He has expertise in the evaluation of and modifications to existing dams and in the design of new dams. Through his career, he has been involved in all aspects of dam engineering, with specific expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses, hydraulic structures, dam safety, and risk analysis, with a focus on dam rehabilitation design. He has performed and led assessments, evaluations, analyses, and design for more than 100 dams.

Greg enjoys contributing to the dam engineering industry and interacting with his peers through several professional organizations. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the United States Society on Dams (USSD).  Greg is the Chair of the ASDSO Technical Journal Committee, where he leads the committee in the selection and review of articles for the Journal of Dam Safety. He is also the Chair of the USSD Committee on Hydraulics and Hydrology and is the United States’ delegate to the Hydraulics of Dams Committee of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD).  He has authored or co-authored more than 40 technical papers, mostly on dam rehabilitation and H&H.
