Aterra-Schnabel Joint Venture

A joint venture between Aterra Solutions (Aterra) and Schnabel Engineering (Schnabel) was formed under the Small Business Administration’s Mentor-Protégé Program. In this program, well-established, successful larger businesses like Schnabel assist small businesses such as Aterra by supplementing and enhancing their capabilities and improving their ability and capacity to compete for government contracts.

Recognizing the complementary nature of the two firms’ engineering practices in relation to dam, levee, and flood control studies and design solutions, Aterra and Schnabel entered into a joint venture agreement under the program to pursue federal small business set-aside contracts and other suitable opportunities.

Greater than the sum of its parts, Aterra-Schnabel JV is a prime contractor with industry-leading capabilities in dam assessment and design, water resources engineering, planning, and construction management services. The JV currently holds two regional (Northeast and Southeast) Small Business contracts with the NRCS, as well as a Small Business contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District.
