Muriel Rodriguez and Alexa Overeem Elected to 2022 WTS Central Virginia Board of Directors
Congratulations to Associate, Muriel Rodriguez for being re-elected President of WTS Central Virginia’s Board of Directors and to Senior Staff Engineer, Alexa Overeem for being elected Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Women’s Transportation Seminars (WTS) mission is to advance women in the transportation industry through networking, mentorship, and professional development. Muriel has been a member of the organization for several years and has made a great impact to the chapter’s growth and professional advancement. She was also awarded the WTS Central Virginia Member of the Year award in 2020.
Alexa recently joined WTS Central Virginia Chapter after attending the WTS annual awards reception dinner in September. With experience of being a board member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at her university, she was excited to join WTS. When asked what she hopes to accomplish as Secretary she stated “My goals for 2022 are to help bring their outreach program back, so we can educate grade school girls on the transportation industry and its career paths. I also hope to learn more about other sectors of the industry aside from engineering and bring a fresh perspective to the board and the chapter.”
