Power and Energy
Serving the power and energy sector since the 1970s, Schnabel has played an integral role on a variety of energy generation and transmission projects, working with owners, engineers, and contractors to bring projects safely online. We have a proven record of meeting expedited project schedules for large design-build projects, providing cost-effective alternatives and support for EPC contractors. With a full-time dedicated safety officer, Schnabel puts safety first on all of its projects, providing safety training and incorporating site-specific safety plans on its projects.
Quality is our bedrock. Our in-house soil, materials, and asphalt laboratories are accredited by AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) – the gold standard – and USACE. Our multi-disciplinary staff includes highly skilled geotechnical, geostructural, dam, mining, tunnel, and civil engineers; hydrogeologists; hydrologists; geophysicists; and geologists. We’re dedicated to keeping them and their collaborators safe on every project. We have a full-time health and safety officer and write customized, site-specific health and safety plans for complex work sites. We remain in excellent standing, with an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.75.
As a valued partner to many power companies, we have successful project experience on critical energy infrastructure, including commercial and government nuclear facilities; gas turbine, combined cycle and cogeneration facilities; coal-fired generation plants; transmission lines and substations, natural gas pipelines; hydropower; wind turbines, and pumped storage dams. We’re also recognized as a specialty provider for developing, designing, and performing construction management services for hydroelectric projects across the U.S., with many in remote locations. We’re unique in that we have offices with professionals that work exclusively on dam projects throughout the country. Our engineers prefer the hands-on approach, and value long-standing relationships.
