Klickitat Fish Hatchery Tours
Earlier this year, Schnabel and Idaho Power proudly completed the renovation of the historic Oxbow Fish Hatchery—Idaho Power’s first hatchery, built in 1961. This project highlights their ongoing commitment to preserving salmon and steelhead in the Snake and Salmon rivers while delivering reliable, clean energy.
Recently, Schnabel joined two site tours at OFH: one with Fruitland-area students for hands-on learning, and another with the Bonneville Power Administration and Tapani Inc., who are collaborating with us on the Klickitat Fish Hatchery project.
Both Oxbow and Klickitat facilities feature state-of-the-art broodstock holding raceways, designed to safely hold, sort, and spawn adult salmonids—ensuring the sustainable collection and fertilization of eggs to support fish populations across the Columbia River Basin. We’re honored to serve as the Lead Design Engineer for both facilities and to work alongside such a passionate and talented team of professionals dedicated to environmental stewardship and innovation.
