Iron Duff Road Project

When Hurricane Helene struck, the Pigeon River surged over Bridge 42 on Iron Duff Road, washing away critical slope protection at the east abutment. In response, Schnabel worked with Breccia Construction, LLC to rapidly deploy a geotechnical investigation team to evaluate ground conditions for the foundation design of the new permanent structure.

Schnabel has a long-standing partnership with NCDOT. We have contributed to hundreds of transportation projects across North Carolina—designing, repairing, and strengthening vital infrastructure. This project was more than just replacing a bridge; it was about restoring safe, reliable access for the community and enhancing resilience against future storms.
