Construction on I95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing Completed

Construction on the Interstate 95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project is complete—on time, and on budget! The $132 million project added a second southbound bridge and additional travel lanes, doubling southbound capacity.

Schnabel contributed to this successful project by identifying geotechnical risks early in the design process. The early identification of geotechnical risk allowed the project team to prepare for the project challenges and ultimately meet the needs of the project’s accelerated schedule.

Work on the I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing continues utilizing the same project team of Wagmanand Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson; it’s expected to be completed in Spring 2024.
