Congratulations to the 2021 GPTQ Awards Winners

Congratulations to the 2021 Georgia Partnership for Transportation Quality (GPTQ) Awards Winners! This year Neel-Schaffer Inc. was awarded a GPTQ Award for Category 5: Bridge/Structural Design for the CR 5813/College Street over Norfolk Southern Railway Bridge Replacement project. Schnabel Engineering’s transportation team had the opportunity to work on this project and was a sub-consultant to Neel-Schaffer on the Wright Brothers Construction Company/Neel-Schaffer design build team.

Schnabel Engineering was the Geotechnical Engineer of Record on this Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) design build project. Our services included subsurface explorations, geotechnical reports, geostructural design analyses, and preparation of signed and sealed shop drawings for the bridge abutment tie-back walls, foundation piles, and soil nailed wing walls.

GPTQ has a longstanding partnership between ACEC Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Each year transportation projects in Georgia nominated by the project owner and are awarded to the primary engineer for the project. To be eligible, a project should demonstrate transportation planning and design expertise, as well as a commitment to GPTQ’s goals not older than five years. Awards are given to the best projects nominated in each category. These categories have been selected as those that best embody the on-going evolution of innovation and quality in serving the transportation needs of Georgia.
