Breakthrough on Chimborazo Sewer Improvement Phase 3 Project

Breakthrough! The 7.5-foot diameter microtunnel boring machine has broken through, completing the trenchless excavation under the railroad in downtown Richmond. This is the first drive of two for the City of Richmond’s Chimborazo Sewer Improvement Phase 3 project. Schnabel Engineering has provided geotechnical engineering, environmental services, and tunnel design services and is part of the greater team including City of Richmond, TYLin | Greeley and Hansen Water Solutions, Arcadis, English Construction, and Northeast Remsco Construction.
