Bill Billiet presents at S3: Slopes, Slides and Stabilization
Don’t miss Bill Billiet’s presentation of Slope Stabilization in the Potomac Group Formation with Continuous Flight Auger Pile—July 27 at 2:10 PM–at S3: Slopes, Slides and Stabilization.
This presentation, co-authored by Trevor Yinger of Wagman Construction, discusses the design and construction of nearly 100 ft deep continuous flight auger (CFA) piles with full-length reinforcing-steel cages to stabilize Cretaceous-aged Potomac Clay slopes supporting new MSE walls constructed for the DDOT I-295 Malcolm X Ave Interchange project. The use of CFA piles saved over $1 million in construction costs compared when with the alternative plan to stabilize the slopes with drilled shafts.
