Belmont Bridge Project Receives 2025 ACEC-VA Engineering Excellence Award
We are thrilled to share that the Belmont Bridge Rehabilitation Project has received a 2025 ACEC Virginia Engineering Excellence Award!
The Belmont Bridge has been a key connection for pedestrians and vehicles, linking downtown Charlottesville with the Belmont neighborhood, a vibrant area blending industrial and residential character, across the CSX Rail right-of-way. With the 1960 bridge showing signs of deterioration and with urban growth on the rise, the City of Charlottesville enlisted Kimley-Horn, to advance a decade-long effort to design a replacement that reflects the community’s vision and goals. Schnabel provided geotechnical design and construction support.
