Soil Improvement and Grouting

Soil improvement often permits the use of less-costly foundations.

In an area of karst geology, that is, where sinkholes may be present, it often is necessary to grout or fill the voids in the bedrock to reduce the risk of collapse. Where loose or soft soils are present, improving the condition of the soils may permit the use of shallow foundations rather than more expensive deep foundations. Soil improvement methods often are employed at sites such as waterfront sites, with deep deposits of weak, soft soils. Schnabel is an industry leader in providing design of site improvement and remediation systems such as low mobility and jet grouting, vibro-replacement/stone columns, soil mixing, deep dynamic compaction, and wick drains with preloading.
