Project Overview
Schnabel performed a wetland delineation on the site of Lutron’s new 120,000 square-foot, three-story office building, which incorporated the existing ¾-acre man-made pond. A request made to the Pennsylvania Natural Diversity Inventory (PNDI) had resulted in a positive “hit” for the protected species, Clemmys muhlenbergii (bog turtle) in the vicinity of the site, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) requested a Phase II Endangered Species Survey. Schnabel then provided services necessary to obtain USFWS concurrence with the development project and the federal Endangered Species Act, and thus clearance for the project by coordinating with a private consultant certified by the USFWS for bog turtle surveys.
Once final design of the proposed building was completed, Schnabel provided the permitting services and agency liaison necessary to have the project approved and completed.
Through a unique combination of experience, skill, and sensitivity to the environment, Schnabel contributed to creating a successful project that addressed governmental and environmental concerns.
