Project Overview
Schnabel was subconsultant to The Haskell Group/Parsons Brinckerhoff design-build team providing geotechnical design support, as well as observation and testing services for TyCom's 90,000 sq ft cable station in Wall Township, New Jersey. This facility is considered one of the flagship facilities of the TyCom Global Network's state of the art network management centers. This project consisted of underground cable vaults and operation facilities for TyCom's transoceanic global undersea fiber optic information system.

Construction phase services Schnabel provided to TyCom included observation and testing of earth fill placement; shallow spread foundation observation: steel reinforcement placement; tilt-up wall construction; cast-in-place concrete sampling and testing; structural steel erection including Non Destructive Testing (NDT) of field welds, and bituminous concrete placement.

Schnabel was able to meet the required design-build schedule by assigning multiple field technicians on a daily basis to cover the demanding construction schedule.
