Project Overview
Schnabel was retained by the Stafford County Department of Utilities as a partner to URS Corporation for the design and construction of the Rocky Pen Run Dam, a 135-foot-hight, 700-foot-long roller compacted concrete (RCC) structure with earthen abutment embankments. The reservoir will provide more than five billion gallons of raw water to meet rapidly growing demand in the county.
Schnabel provided value engineering input and reviews on an on-going basis throughout the investigation, analysis, and design phases, and provided comprehensive resident field engineering services, field construction observation, and in-situ and laboratory quality assurance testing services for this $40 million project.
