Schnabel Engineering is part of the Design Build Team recently awarded Contract A of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) project. The design/build team includes Granite Construction, Corman Construction, and Wagman Construction. The lead designers are a joint venture of Parsons Transportation Group and Jacobs Engineering, with subconsultants KCI Technologies, Schnabel Engineering, and A. Morton Thomas.

The 7.2 mile Contract A is the first section of the 20 miles of new highway for the ICC. Contract A extends from the end of I-270/I-370 in Rockville, Maryland to Maryland Route 97 Georgia Avenue. The $463 million project began in May 2007 and is to be completed in August 2010. The new six-lane tolled highway includes three new interchanges, five miles of noise walls, and 28 new bridges.
