Mr. Bill Irwin, P.E. joins Schnabel
March 1, 2008 | Schnabel Engineering is pleased to announce the hiring of William (Bill) Irwin as a Senior Consultant of the Firm. Mr. Irwin brings more than 30 years experience with the Soil Conservation Service (SCS)/Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to Schnabel’s Dam Engineering Group. Bill rose through a number of increasingly responsible staff positions with the SCS in New Jersey, Illinois, and Pennsylvania before being appointed National Design Engineer with the NRCS in Washington, D.C.
In his 11 years as the NRCS’s National Design Engineer, Mr. Irwin managed the agencies engineering design quality control systems, maintained design policy and criteria, and reviewed complex project designs. During most of this time, Bill chaired the Federal Guidelines Subcommittee of the Interagency Committee on Dam Safety (ICODS) and represented USDA on the National Dam Safety Review Board. Bill recently received an Honorary Membership in the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO).
Mr. Irwin received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from New Jersey College of Engineering and his Master’s Degree from Rutgers University. He is a registered professional engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
