Dr. Matheson, located in Schnabel’s Glen Allen, Virginia, office, has more than 35 years of experience in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, and groundwater hydrology on domestic and international projects. He has completed investigations and design studies for highways, tunnels, mine shafts, underground mines, surface mines, dams, and deep valley fills. In addition, Dr. Matheson has expertise in evaluation of groundwater resources for potable water supply and evaluation of the impacts of water withdrawal on aquifer levels. He has developed recommendations and evaluated the impacts of dewatering systems for large excavations, surface mines and underground mines. Dr. Matheson has experience in grouting for ground stabilization and water control. He is a former adjunct faculty at Colorado School of Mines and Catholic University of America. Additionally, he is the author of more than 30 technical papers on a wide variety of subjects, and participates on professional society committees and in leadership roles within those organizations. In his current capacity as CEO, Dr. Matheson oversees all management functions of the firm and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of Schnabel and its subsidiaries.
