The Gaithersburg, Maryland office of Schnabel Engineering, Inc. (Schnabel) is seeking qualified, enthusiastic candidates for the position of Staff/Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer.

The Gaithersburg, MD office of Schnabel provides a broad range of geotechnical and environmental engineering services, as well as construction-phase observation and materials testing services, to support a variety of client types in the private and public sector in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and abroad. With a staff of over 60 engineers, technician and administrative professionals, the Gaithersburg office of Schnabel offers a challenging, exciting, and team-oriented work environment for professional career development.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have 1 to 3 years of related experience in the field of geotechnical engineering with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a Master’s Degree focus in geotechnical engineering or geological engineering from an ABET accredited school. A strong, professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high level is critical. A basic knowledge of geotechnical engineering subsurface investigations and engineering analyses for design of building foundations, roadway subgrades and pavements, embankment and cut slopes and other related analyses for other construction types are essential. Other duties may include coordination and oversight of field investigations, assistance in the preparation of reports and proposals, and assignment of limited project management duties. The successful candidate will be trained in and expected to apply basic loss prevention principals. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are highly valued and will be required for successful advancement within the office and firm.
