The Gaithersburg, Maryland office of Schnabel Engineering, Inc. (Schnabel) is seeking qualified, enthusiastic candidates for the position of Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer.

The Gaithersburg, MD office of Schnabel provides a broad range of geotechnical and environmental engineering services, as well as construction-phase observation and materials testing services, to support a variety of client types in the private and public sector in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and abroad. With a staff of over 60 engineers, technician and administrative professionals, the Gaithersburg office of Schnabel offers a challenging, exciting, and team-oriented work environment for professional career development.

The successful candidate will have 1 to 3 years of related experience in the field of environmental services with a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science or engineering, or related field.  A strong, professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high level is critical. A working knowledge of environmental site assessments, including soil and groundwater sampling, is essential.  Knowledge and experience with hazardous building materials is a plus.  Duties may include conduct of assessments and subsurface investigations, assistance in the preparation of reports and proposals, and assignment of limited project management duties. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are highly valued and will be required for successful advancement within the office and firm.
